I've been creating mandalas all my life, before they became popular. I paint on black canvases and not rocks. This particular set of tools is the one I was always looking for! There are products made specifically for dotting that cost 2x, 3x the price, and they are not worth it. I would have paid $30 for this set, easily. Everything is sturdy, well made, no burrs on any of the metal balls or the acrylic rods. The bonus stencil and paint palette are nice. TIP: If you want to simply create circles without a bubble in the center, both the rods and balls can be drawn into elongated pointed shapes like halves of a heart, or leaves, or simple small spirals, or rotated in place until the paint settles and when you lift it, no dome shape.

I've been having a lot of fun with this set. It's a great price for everything that was included. When I get started with these, my family knows not to bother me. I go all Zen-like :P The stencil is the perfect size for tiles that I've been playing around with. I haven't tried it on anything else, but I'm sure I can make due. The acrylic and the smaller dotting tools were much easier to use than the larger ball dotting tools. I might need to just get used to using them. They're still nice to play around and experiment with. If you're a nail polish enthusiast, the smaller dotting set is nice for that, too!

Just received these today and they seem to be of great quality. Right off the bat I can feel the heaviness of the tools; not too heavy but just enough to have some good heft to them. These will come in handy when I’m painting my mandala rock art to help me keep a steady hand. The metal rod dotting tools have a blue rubberized handle to further help steady your hand. The extra dotting stencil and paint holder are a nice touch too. The colored ribbons inside the clear rods are really pretty. Overall a great value for the price and I can’t wait to make some nice art with these.

I’ve taken up rock painting and having such an array of dotting tools is an important aspect in creating lovely works of art. As someone without much actual artistic ability, I use these tools a lot and have found some creative ways to use them in a variety of ways. I would encourage people to also purchase a floating (flow) medium to add to the paint they use for dotting. Some paints are too thick to make nice flat dots, so adding a little if this helps you get your paint to the perfect consistency. This particular set gives you the ability to make tiny and huge dots. It was the best set for the best price I could find.
